Walmart, Flipkart signs MoU with Telangana Govt to upskill, support local MSMEs
On Tuesday, Walmart and flipkart announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the telangana government to establish an ecosystem to support MSMEs in the state in expanding their capacities. According to a press release, the agreement was signed in the presence of Joseph Julian KG, director of the "Swasti" project, and Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary of the telangana government's industries and commerce department.
According to the statement, the MoU between Swasti and the industries and Commerce Department will help local Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) expand so they can access a larger domestic market, take advantage of online shopping, and enable sustainable growth and commercialization. As part of the new relationship, Walmart will increase its assistance to MSMEs in order to help them digitise their operations and promote Telangana's capacity building. They would be able to participate in domestic supply chains both offline and online as a result, it said.
Walmart Vriddhi Supplier Development Programme (Walmart Vriddhi) offers small businesses and entrepreneurs a comprehensive learning platform, free training, in-depth expert assistance, and customised tools and skills required to grow and expand their businesses, it said. Walmart Vriddhi is a partnership between Swasti and Walmart.
"We are happy to collaborate with Walmart Vriddhi to provide guidance and the support needed to strengthen MSMEs to achieve greater success through the programme," Jayesh Ranjan said after the agreement was signed. The Walmart Vriddhi curriculum offers an online learning environment that is improved by technology, along with individualised feedback and one-on-one consultations. The training has already been completed by over 32,000 MSMEs. Joseph Julian, head of the Swasti project, stated that "through the Vriddhi initiative, we are dedicated to helping MSMEs become more resilient for the future and supporting their participation in local and national supply chains."
