NTPC Telangana’s first 800MW unit performs to full capacity

SIBY JEYYA
On sunday night, the first ultra-supercritical unit of the 2 800 MW telangana Super Thermal Power Project of NTPC-Ramagundam produced 801.6 MW at full capacity. Kedar Ranjan Pandu, the chief general manager of NTPC (Ramagundam & Telangana), and other employees gave out sweets to mark the occasion. The first of the TSTPP's two 800 MW units, as you may remember, was synchronized to the grid on march 24. Although the unit was ready for full production, technical issues prevented it from meeting its goal.

On July 18, the unit was restarted, and by progressively increasing production, the goal was met. 801.6 MW was generated at 7:40 p.m. After 72 hours of testing, a commercial operation declaration will be made. The 5800 MW (4,000 MW) supercritical thermal power plant was built in accordance with the andhra pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, and is required to provide telangana with 85% of the energy it produces.

The telangana Government has formally requested that 100% of the electricity generated there be allocated to fulfill the State's rising energy demand, although no decision has yet been made on this. An improved cycle efficiency of 42%, a unified control system, and control room, a gas insulated sub-station, the installation of roof-top solar panels on all plant buildings, a highly concentrated slurry disposal system for water conservation, and flue gas desulphurization (FGD) for SOX reduction are just a few of the environmentally friendly fuel-efficient features of this plant, according to officials.
