After 2 years, the national democratic alliance (NDA) meeting under the leadership of bjp is being held in delhi on Tuesday. According to bjp President JP Nadda, there will be a grand gathering of 38 parties in the meeting. Let us inform that the last time a joint meeting of nda leaders was held in november 2021.
Political experts are also seeing the nda meeting as a show of strength. 26 parties including Congress, RJD, SP and Trinamool have talked about fighting a common fight against bjp, after which bjp is also breathing life into NDA.
A big question remains in the political corridors among the grand alliance of 38 parties, will the bjp give these parties a share in the central government? If yes, then which parties can find a place in the possible reshuffle of the Modi cabinet?
Vajpayee-George formed the NDA
After the fall of the government within 13 days in 1996, the bjp also felt the need for allies. In 1998, George Fernandez of Samata party and atal bihari vajpayee started the exercise of forming a National Democratic Alliance.
At that time bjp got the support of 16 parties. The nda alliance had won 261 out of the total 541 seats in the lok sabha then.
Vajpayee was also successful in becoming the Prime Minister, but the government fell within 13 months under the pressure of Jayalalithaa. elections were held again in 1999 and this time 24 parties decided to contest the elections together with the NDA. nda also benefited from this and won 302 seats.
Vajpayee became the first non-Congress Prime Minister, who completed a full 5-year term. The joint manifesto of nda was released at that time. A committee was formed to coordinate with all the parties. However, in 2004, the nda was defeated and then disintegrated.
