Increase in accidents on Mysore-Bangalore Expressway..!?

             

On Tuesday, a detailed discussion was held in the Legislative assembly about the death of 132 people due to accidents on the Mysore-Bangalore Expressway, and it was said that 'most accidents are taking place due to defects in road construction. home minister Dr. G. Parameshwar said that the National Highways Authority will be instructed to take appropriate measures in this regard.


BJP member suresh Kumar, who raised the issue at zero hours, said 132 people died on the Mysore-Bangalore Expressway. Mandya 65, Ramnagar 53, and mysore 4 died. What is the state government's action to prevent these deaths? He questioned. He also said that there are many deficiencies on the road, including the lack of signboards. Responding to this, minister Dr. G. Parameshwar said that according to the information of our department, 100 people died on this highway and 335 people were seriously injured. 19 deaths, 42 serious injuries in March, 23 deaths, 83 injuries in April, 29 deaths, 93 injuries in May, 28 deaths, 96 injuries in June. He said that we will check these figures again.


ADGP Alok Kumar was instructed to inspect the spot due to the increasing number of accidents. In this case, the highway authority should increase the number of highway patrolling vehicles. Speed control, turning, and narrow roads should be signposted. vehicles are not obeying the traffic rules. The fence is not properly installed to prevent pedestrians from entering the road. It is known that there is no street lighting system in many places. He said that we will bring all these points to the attention of the National Highways Authority.


Speeding vehicles are causing accidents due to the lack of signboards. In addition, Public Works minister Satish Jarakiholi has written to NHAI and requested them to conduct a safety audit. Parameshwar said that accidents are increasing due to defects and chaos on the road, and if these are rectified, accidents can be reduced. Water not going out on the highway': JDS member G. T. Deve Gowda said that the situation is that water is not going out on the road. The contractor did not carry out the road work properly. Thus, accidents are happening due to vehicles skidding in the rain. He advised that attention should be paid to this as well.
