As the water that spilled out of the Mupkal pump
house piping system reached the reservoir on
friday evening, farmers in the
sriram Sagar Project ayacut screamed in joy. They flocked to the project site, where they chanted praises for the
chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and his day-long series of re-engineering trials.
The water that arrived at the reservoir after travelling nearly 300 km upstream with the help of the
kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation system's reverse pumping network is the result of a tremendous amount of work that irrigation engineers have been putting in for years. At first, the net realisation at the SRSP end would be around 0.25 TMC per day. Irrigation authorities predict that the volume will be increased gradually as needed. Up until now, the pumps have only been operating during the day.
After evaluating initial operations, they will be operational 24/7. Speaker of the State Legislative
assembly Pocharam
srinivas Reddy, who joined the farmers in their celebrations, stated that today was the day that
chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was dreaming about. The farmers were joined in congratulating the
chief minister by Ministers for Roads and Buildings Vemula
prashant Reddy, Forests and Endowments P. Indrakaran Reddy,
mp KR
suresh Reddy, lawmakers A
jeevan Reddy, B Govardan Reddy, Vittal Reddy, and
rekha Naik, among many other dignitaries.
The Speaker remarked that without the KLIS being built at Medigadda to harness the power of the Pranahita river, the water would not have reached SRSP today, remembering the neglect the irrigation projects endured in the undivided State. In the end,
chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's expertise in reengineering had paid off. Only 21,000 TMC of the 70,000 TMC annual water supply that the nation has access to was being used. He emphasized that the nation needed a
leader with the vision and stature of Chandrashekhar Rao.
Speakers who addressed the farmers emphasised the necessity to keep the BRS's stable leadership in place at all costs in order to maintain the State's growing pace. They all shouted a warning to the farmers, saying that getting caught up in the opposition-sponsored negative campaign would be fatal for the state's growth.
