The
congress party behaves in an unusual manner. While the governments of the Congress-ruled states of
karnataka,
rajasthan, and
chhattisgarh pay meager monthly pensions to elderly citizens and widows,
party senior
leader rahul gandhi promised that if
telangana was elected to power, older residents and widows would receive a pension of Rs 4,000.
In the most recent elections, the
congress won in
karnataka and has been in power in
rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. It is interesting to note that the monthly pension granted varies between Rs 350 in
chhattisgarh, Rs 750 in
rajasthan, and Rs 800 in Karnataka. Although the
congress party controlled the aforementioned three States, there was no standardization of monthly pensions.
Telangana, on the other hand, is one of the States that provides elderly citizens and widows with the highest monthly pension among all the other States. A monthly pension of Rs. 2,016 is granted to senior citizens, widows, and physically disabled people, who receive a monthly pension of Rs. 4,000. Apart from that, 65 years of age was previously required to qualify for pensions under the Aasara program. The State
government last year reduced the eligibility to 57 years. As a result, there are now 45.80 lakh retirees enrolled in the program as a whole.
The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has criticized
congress leader rahul Gandhi's announcement to grant an Rs. 4,000 monthly pensions. The monthly stipend of Rs. 4,000 was demanded by BRS
mla D Sudheer
reddy from the
congress party in
karnataka,
rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. "In a few States,
congress is in power. It ought to make these statements in those States before providing
telangana with similar assurances, according to Sudheer Reddy.
rahul Gandhi's pledges were mocked by BRS spokesperson D Shravan, who claimed that they were just designed to sway State voters.
The
congress was attempting to deceive the populace with false claims as the
assembly elections drew near. Similar announcements were also made prior to the 2018 elections, but the public ignored them, he claimed. The
telangana people have already decided to elect
chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for a third straight term, notwithstanding the false promises being made by the
congress,
shravan stated.
