There is a rise in the entrance of livestock from several States to the city as a result of the Eid ul Adha holiday, also known as Bakrid, which will be observed on Thursday. Arrivals from surrounding Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and chhattisgarh are increasing significantly at the regular sheep markets at Jiyaguda, Golnaka, Langar Houz, and Gowlipura. On routine days, about 5,000 sheep arrive in the city on average; during the festival, the number rises to 50,000.

"Sheep are killed on regular days to meet the needs of the community for meat. However, households purchase up to 10 sheep and even more in some circumstances during the Bakrid holiday, when livestock are slain owing to religious beliefs, according to dealer Shamshu Bhai at Jiyaguda market. The local middlemen and cattle merchants work together with their counterparts in other States to assist the transport and sale of animals in the run-up to the festival in order to satisfy the demand.

"In comparison to other major cities, we obtain a decent price for the animals in the city. In this season, a sheep that produces about 10 kg of meat is anticipated to cost Rs. 10,000. According on the supply, it can be somewhat higher or lower, according to merchant Yousuf Qureshi at Langer Houz.
