Telangana govt’s Kanti Velugu nears completion - 1.6 Crore persons avail benefit

The 100-day campaign for the Kanti Velugu programme, which was started under the direction of chief minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, is almost over. This ambitious project has successfully screened a remarkable total of 1,60,89,744 people across the state since it began on january 18. The main goal of the programme is to make sure that everyone has access to competent eye care.
The programme has identified 22,44,267 people who are visually challenged and has given them free eyeglasses and essential medications throughout this time. Additionally, a data-sizeable quantity of 15,00,000 prescription glasses have been supplied with the intention of enhancing eyesight and raising the general standard of living for people in need. The Kanti Velugu program's completion of eye tests across 12,501 Gramme Panchayats and 3,666 Municipal Wards is a noteworthy accomplishment. Additionally, screenings have already been completed in 15 districts, demonstrating the program's thorough coverage and effective execution.
The data shows that 11,584 transgender people and 75,62,259 men actively participated in the screening procedure. Additionally, 20,42,218 people had tests without any eye issues being recorded, highlighting the need of early identification and timely care. The medical staff, employees from various departments, and members of the public received genuine thanks from the chief minister for their commitment to making the Kanti Velugu programme run well. He emphasised the need of administering exams to everyone who needs them and of giving reading glasses right away.
