In a first, the district's irrigation department is working to use pipelines rather than traditional canals to supply water to more than 1,000 acres of agricultural fields as part of the ayacut of Matthadivagu minor project. In order to water the parched agricultural fields in Thamsi mandal, the State government, which has transformed the irrigation industry by launching numerous irrigation projects like the kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, has started this experiment. Interestingly, according to officials, telangana is the first state to employ the pipeline system.

Pipeline measuring 9 km will irrigate 1,200 acres.

"To irrigate 1,200 acres of crops through the right bank canal of the Matthadivagu project in Thamsi mandal, a nine-kilometer long pipeline has been installed. For the first time in the State, the irrigation industry is experimenting with the pipeline system. Soon, a test run will be performed, according to irrigation department assistant engineer Harish Kumar.
Cost of the project: Rs. 7.34 crore
Officials predict that the endeavour will cost Rs 7.34 crore. Farmers were able to plant crops after pipelines were constructed by excavating the ground up to 3–4 metres. 25 blocks make up the pipeline according to classification. There are now 225 outlets installed in all. Each outlet has the capacity to irrigate 2.5 hectares of agricultural land.
