The question of which political party to support in the next elections is dividing the kshatriya community. There are quite a few members of this community in the tdp, BJP, and YCP.
Sri Ranganatharaju was appointed to the first cabinet by ycp leader and chief minister Y.S. jagan Mohan reddy in order to gain the support of the kshatriya vote. But he put them aside when he was expanding his cabinet. In the most recent elections, the community backed the ycp, and there was speculation that this contributed to the party's victory in the west godavari district, where their population is concentrated. Now, some claim that the Kshatriyas are attempting to data-align themselves with the tdp, while others believe that they wish to sail with the BJP.
Insider rumours, however, claim that the Kshatriyas have divided into two groups. One intends to help Modi at the federal level, while the other intends to support the tdp at the state. Kshatriyas believe that the three-capital formula used by the ycp forced them to suffer loss. The majority of them had made land investments in amaravati, and as a result of Jagan's decision to move to Vizag, they suffered losses. They therefore believe that they should support the tdp this time in order to see some progress in amaravati as well as the entire state. The community members are rather certain which party they should support, but they haven't said anything publicly about it yet.
