What is the reason for such a huge turnout?

Experts have different views regarding the huge turnout in the state. Some are calling it an anti-incumbency trend against the bjp, while some have said that there is so much voting in support of the BJP. However, this time two new factors related to voting can also be the reason for more people reaching the polling booth.

For the first time, the refugees of the Bru tribal community settled in the state and were also given the right to vote by the BJP. There are 37,136 Bru refugees in the state, out of which only 14,005 have got the right to vote. It is believed that all of them have voted.

This time there has been direct participation of the dynasty in Tripura elections. Pradyot Manikya Debbarma, a scion of the royal family, had fielded his Tipra Motha party candidate on 42 out of 60 seats.

The main contest between BJP-IPFT and CPI(M)-Congress alliance

In these assembly elections, the main contest has been between the ruling bjp and the alliance of the local party IPFT and the CPI(M)-Congress alliance. bjp fielded its candidates on 55 and IPFT on 5 seats, while CPI(M) fielded candidates on 43 and congress on 13 seats. Both these parties have also got the support of Forward Bloc, RSP and CPI, who were given one seat each in return.
