According to a press release from the chennai Corporation, various projects are being carried out on the banks of the Adyar and Koovam rivers under the auspices of the chennai Rivers Rehabilitation Trust Fund, including levelling the banks, removing solid waste, planting saplings, and erecting barrier fences. Based on that, Mr. V.K. constructed a pathway from nagar Bridge to MRTS Bridge at a cost of Rs. 5.4 crore and planted 60 000 saplings. Last November, chief minister Stalin officially opened the finished construction via video.

Additionally, 13,456 saplings were planted on the banks of the Adyar River in the Alandur region between Memambalam, which is close to the Meenambakkam airport runway, and the Nandambakkam bridge on the left in a length of 3.9 km and an area of 16,955 square feet at a cost of Rs. 1,41 crore, and on the right in a length of 4 km and an area of 13,312 square feet at a cost of Rs. 1,17 crore Planting is now being done.

Following this, encroachments were removed along the banks of Coovam River from Napier Bridge to Los Bridge, the banks were leveled, perimeter walls were built and improved, and traditional saplings such as Arasa tree, Banyan tree, Makhilam, Malai Vembu, Ashoka tree, Poovarasu, Bungan, Kalyana Moringa, Maruta tree, Punnai, Neem, Ilupai were planted. , Guava, Nochi and 43 types of saplings are being planted.
