Pakistan flood threatens historic mohenjodaro site...

The whole of pakistan is facing the threat of floods these days. One-third of the country is submerged in water. From the food, drinking, and electricity-water crisis, there is outcry everywhere. Meanwhile, another danger has arisen. This danger is associated with the ancient Indus Valley Civilization. In the midst of this rain, it has become difficult to protect mohenjodaro, one of the two main centres of this civilization.

Many labourers are busy digging drains from this archaeological site. According to reports from Pakistani media, these days the labourers are engaged in extracting water from the mining sites of Mohenjodaro. Along with this, the wall protecting the mound is also being strengthened continuously. The Mound of the Dead is a famous site on the site of Mohenjodaro. It was also covered with tarpaulin to protect it from rain. Now efforts are being made to strengthen the wall adjoining it.

The excavation was first recognized in 1992

For the first time in 1992, the excavation done at the site of mohenjodaro was recognized. After excavation, it was revealed that in this mound between 2500-1700 BC, the remains of a great civilization settled on the banks of the river Indus were buried. Now the floods in the indus river have wreaked havoc all over Pakistan. According to reports, various forts, tombs and heritage sites located across Sindh province are now on the verge of collapse due to flood waters.
