Jai for EPS, Nahi for OPS!!

It is known that the party data-faced many crises after the sudden death of former cm of tamil Nadu AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa. After Jayalalitha's death, Jayalalithaa's Sasikala party took control of the government. He had to go to jail in an embezzlement case before he could take over the duties of Chief Minister. This made his trusted pawn Edappadi palani Swamy (EPS) sit on the CM's pedestal.

At the same time, O. Panneerselvam, who took over as the interim cm after Jayalalitha's death, also tried to hold on to the party government. After Sasikala was jailed, EPS and OPS came together for the betterment of the party government. OPS party Convener took charge as deputy cm as EPS Chief Minister.

It is known that AIADMK was defeated in last year's elections and DMK led by stalin came to power. With this AIADMK is limited to the opposition. This led to a power struggle between EPS and OPS for supremacy over the party. Both factions have approached the court regarding the party general meeting.

But most of the 60 district secretaries active in the AIADMK party are with Palaniswami. He was encouraged by the fact that out of the total 66 MLAs, except for two or three, they were with the EPS. Apart from this, there are reports that Panneerselvam is close to Sasikala and is trying to get her into the party. With this, EPS came to the conclusion that there is a conspiracy to destabilize him. The issue of single leadership was brought to the fore.

On the other hand, Panneerselvam is completely losing his grip on AIADMK. All the leaders he thought were far away from him. As 90 percent of the key district secretaries in the party joined the EPS side, there was no other option for the OPS except to listen to them.

In this background, former chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami was elected as the interim general secretary of AIADMK. The general meeting of the party held at the party headquarters on the outskirts of Chennai.. resolved to this effect. EPS was elected as the general secretary of the party. It has made key changes in the bylaws which have been going on for a long time. Abolished dual leadership. Agreed to single leadership.

With this, another former chief minister Panneerselvam, who was the head of the party until now, lost his position in the party. All his statuses were also cancelled. The AIADMK has decided that elections should be held for all the posts in the party within four months from this date. It has been clarified that Palaniswami will also oversee the entire supervision of party activities till then. As part of this, he has been elected as the interim general secretary of the party.
