The main inventor of Sulli Deals, the app that published images of many Muslim women without their consent for a virtual "auction," has been arrested by delhi Police's Special Cell. Aumkareshwar Thakur (25), the accused, was apprehended in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Thakur was apprehended after Niraj Bishnoi, the founder of the Bulli Bai app, which is similar to Sulli Deals, was interrogated.

During his preliminary interrogation, Aumkareshwar Thakur admitted to being a part of a trad-group on twitter, where the notion of defaming and trolling Muslim women was exchanged. In january 2020, he used the twitter handle @gangescion to join a twitter group called 'Treadmahasabha.' The code for the Sulli Deals app was written on GitHub by Aumkareshwar Thakur, who holds a BCA degree from IPS Academy in Indore.

All members of the group had access to the app on GitHub. The app was published on twitter by Aumkareshwar Thakur. The Muslim women's images were submitted by the members of the organisation. He removed all of his social media fingerprints after the controversy over the app. The codes/images associated with the Sulli Deals app are being investigated further using technical devices. According to insiders, when delhi Police began their investigation into the Sulli Deal case in July 2021, they wrote to GitHub twice to get user information, but they were denied down since the San Francisco-based corporation, which is controlled by Microsoft, does not adhere with CrPC.
