
Another attack on Hindu Mandir???
Idols of deities have been vandalized in a Hindu temple in Karachi city of Pakistan. This incident took place on monday evening at Narayan Mandir located in the Narayanpura neighbourhood of Old Karachi.
Senior police officer Sarfaraz Nawaz said that a person named Mohammad Waleed Shabbir has been arrested for damaging the idols of deities.
He said, "He has been arrested on the complaint of a Hindu man named mukesh Kumar. Kumar was praying with his wife at the Narayan temple when he saw this man breaking the idols of Hindu deities with a hammer."
The accused was caught in the temple itself
An eyewitness said that the angry Hindu community members present in the temple caught the miscreant and handed him over to the police. Later, Hindu residents of the area demonstrated outside the police station and demanded the government to provide protection to the Hindus.
They raised slogans and said that they were feeling unsafe in the area after the incident.
Most of the Hindu people in the area are of low income.
Most of the population in the area is from poor and low-income Hindu families. He has been living in Narayanpura for decades. police and Pakistani Rangers reached the spot and cordoned off the area.
Sindh Minority Affairs minister Gyanchand Israni said that a case should be registered in this regard. He said that such incidents create unrest in society. "We condemn such attacks," Israni said.
'This has never happened before
Another Hindu resident said that there are many Hindu families in the area and they have never seen such an incident and there has never been any incident of Hindu-Muslim conflict in the area.
The police officer said that they are probing the motive behind the incident. After this incident, videos of broken holy idols have gone viral on social media.
There have also been incidents of vandalism in Hindu temples in other parts of the country.
According to official estimates, there are 7.5 million Hindus living in Pakistan. However, according to the community, the population of Hindus in the country is more than 90 lakhs.
