Karunanidhi built Dam, Will Stalin at least build a Canal..!?

One of the major problems in the tenkasi district is the construction of the Ramanathi-Jambunadi link canal project which is waiting for the attention of the government. Ramanadi originates in the Western Ghats between Courtallam and Papanasam. There is a dam built across the river ram at the foot of the hill.

With a capacity of about 4 lakh cubic feet, the dam will continue to grow year after year. When the dam fills up, the water crosses the nearby villages of Ravana Samudra, converges at Tamiraparani and flows into the sea. Excess water is wasted here every year.

The northern tributary of the Pavoor Chattra (Atutanga, Courtallam Falls) is somewhat enriched by irrigation. Only the area between Pavoor Chattra and Kadayam becomes a heaven-seen earth every year.

The Ramanathi-Jambu River Link Canal Project was created to alleviate this pain. The water does not overflow like the river Ramnadi. If it rains heavily in the hills, the water from the Jambu River will fill up the rainfed ponds and give some support to agriculture.

So if the surplus water of the ram River is brought into the Jambu River, the total ponds here and there will overflow every year and agriculture will prosper. It is for this purpose that the Ramanathi-Jambunathi Link Canal Project was announced in 2015.

All this aside, the Forest Department has never sought permission to build a canal in the Western Ghats. The task of land acquisition was also not completed.

Thus, the canal work, which was started a few months before the election (20-8-2020) with earth worship, came to a standstill.

The only thing left to do is to approve the State Wildlife Board headed by chief minister Stalin! For this, the working committee is making efforts to meet chief minister stalin and DMK mp Kanimozhi.

The southern part of Pavoorchatram was once famous for chilli cultivation. Due to the lack of proper irrigation facilities in the area, agriculture also declined. The trade and economy of the area have also declined.

The total funding for this project is 41.08 crore rupees. NABARD has deposited Rs. 39 crore through the efforts of Madhyamaka General Secretary vaiko and Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman. There will be no problem in the state government allocating the remaining small amount.

With the approval of the State Commission for Wildlife, headed by chief minister stalin, the project could be completed within a year.

Will stalin implement this link canal project, which was announced under the AIADMK regime?
