Central Committee visits Flood affected areas to study the damage
The Central team went to Cuddalore district and surveyed the rain-affected districts. Since January, the Cuddalore district has seen significant rains. It rained heavily. Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Kurinjipadi, Parangipettai, Kattumannarkovil, Srimushnam, Kumaratchi, Panruti, and Virudhachalam were among the areas impacted. The rains flooded approximately 10,000 acres of agriculture. A total of 2,000 homes were impacted. Over a thousand livestock were slaughtered.
Floods in the Kedilam River and the South Pennai rivers inundated roughly 50 villages in Cuddalore. Approximately 5,000 acres of agriculture were flooded. More than ten cities were flooded, including Kurinji nagar near Cuddalore. As a result, the general people and farmers were significantly impacted. Civilians were rescued by boat from flood-stricken districts and given shelter and food in camps run by the local administration.
In this regard, a central team led by Union home Secretary Rajiv Sharma went to Greater Kanganakkuppam in Cuddalore this morning and assessed the affected residences, farms, and roadways. The public was then requested to provide details about the damage. Panindra Reddy, Commissioner of Revenue for the State of tamil Nadu, K. Balasubramaniam, Cuddalore mla Co. Iyappan, and district high officials were in attendance along with them.
