Why Saffron Uniform in Ramayan Express?
After Sadhu objected, the rule for Ramayana Express catering personnel to wear saffron uniforms was revoked. Every 12 years, the famed Sri Mahakaleshwar temple of Lord shiva in ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, hosts the Simhastha Kumbh Mela. On november 7, the country's first Ramayana Circuit train set out from Delhi's Safdarjung railway station on a 17-day trek to the Kumbh Mela.
The train visits 15 locations connected to Ram's life. The train will travel over 7,500 kilometers to Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Nandigram, Janakpur, Chitrakoot, Sitamarhi, Nashik, Hampi, and Rameswaram, among other destinations. The indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has issued a statement order mandating a clothing code on catering personnel providing food aboard the train. As a result, the Ramayana Express's employees dressed in saffron. This is met with vehement protest.
Since monday morning, Hindu sadhus in ujjain have been vocal in their opposition to the railway department's decision. Employees have complained that wearing saffron is an "insult to Hinduism." They threatened that if the clothing requirement was not relaxed by december 12, the train would be forced to stop in Delhi. The Railways department has now changed the uniform after lots of backlash
