Mullai Periyar issue: central government intervenes

The central government asks kerala to join hands with tamilnadu in strengthening the dam together.

Kerala and tamilnadu have been in the news for the century-old dam where kerala insists on the safety of the dam and it needs a new one.

But, tamilnadu has stated that they are maintaining it very strongly.

They are not allowed to do proper maintenance of the dam due to Kerala.

They also added that the wrong allegations against them should be stopped and the dam is to be fully maintained.

A letter from the resource minister issued that kerala must cooperate in strengthening the dam together.

On Saturday, the supreme court heard the case of the 126-year-old dam.

Due to the heavy rainfall and floods in kerala, the supreme court has said that the water level can reach up to 139 ft.

The court has adjourned on monday and is scheduled for november 13th.

Kerala Chief minister Pinirayi Vijayan has granted to cut the trees because of dam construction.

Due to severe criticism for this, the cutting of trees was denied.

The government of kerala has now frozen the order and issued saying it is not legally binding.

The PTI news reported that the one has to take action since it has prepared the order also.

A three-tier committee has been formed to give the needed comments and advice to the kerala government to take correct and quick action between the two states' issues regarding water and dam.
