The OPS has urged tamil Nadu's chief minister to take steps to guarantee that all persons employed under the mahatma gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme are paid on time and that all sectors of society are reconciled. Regarding that, he said, "Delays in the payment of salaries to a segment of the rural dwellers due to delays in the payroll to the poverty-stricken working under the mahatma gandhi National Rural Employment Support Programme, which is being applied to enhance the rural population's living standards, improve rural infrastructure, and ensure the rural population's employment.
As per the mahatma gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, earnings for individuals who worked together for a defined amount of days will be paid within 15 to 20 days in some areas and two to two months in others under the single employee attendance register. According to media sources, the salary for all is paid in one go, but it is sent individually, and the problem has been observed in numerous states, including Rajasthan, Ranchi, Bengal, Patna, Kannada, and tamil Nadu.
When a senior official from the tamil Nadu Rural Development Department was questioned about it, a section of the newspaper reported that it had received numerous complaints of late payment for work under the mahatma gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in June, despite the fact that other sections had not. This is a heartbreaking act. If this situation continues, the consequences will be severe, putting social peace in jeopardy."
