Ice cream sold through a parlour or similar business will be subject to 18 percent GST, according to the Union government. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman presided over the 5th GST Council meeting, which was held in lucknow recently. State finance secretaries attended a straight GST Council meeting for the first time in 20 months.
The GST Council convened for the last time on december 18, 2019. They met and discussed directly after a long absence. At the conference, it was agreed to levy a 5% GST on businesses that sell food, including ice cream. This raises the possibility of imposing a 5% tax on ice cream parlours. In response to industry concerns, the Union Ministry of Finance has offered an explanation.
It also states that ice cream parlours that sell pre-made ice creams are not considered service providers. They don't do any kind of cooking at all. However, ice cream should be offered. There was no service offered. As a result, ice cream sold in a parlour or similar establishment will be subject to an 18% GST. Food door delivery services, such as restaurants, are subject to a 5% GST.
