Tamil Nadu Transgenders get Rs.2000 as COVID relief fund by CM MK Stalin
The second wave of COVID has paralyzed the entire Nation and it also took several lives and livelihoods of various people. Various states are providing relief funds for various sections of people and celebrities are providing food and ration for those who are in dire need. Now, tamil Nadu chief minister MK stalin has announced Rs.2000 as the Corona Relief fund for the transgender people in tamil Nadu.
The government of tamil Nadu recently announced that Rs 4,000 thousand will be given to the rice ration cardholders as COVID relief following the lockdown in the state and distributed it in two installments. Also, cm MK stalin announced that women can travel on city buses for free of cost and when transgender people wrote to cm demanding they also should be offered free he accepted the request.
As per data, out of 11,449 transgender people, only 2,541 transgender people have ration cards, so apparently, not all of 11,449 people could benefit from the rice ration card scheme. Therefore, currently, the government has announced financial assistance as COVID relief funds. tamil Nadu cm has now extended lockdown until june 14th due to the second wave of viruses.
