Chennai has 2644 Covid19 cases of which 2255 are Active cases

According to sources Greater chennai Corporation on friday removed 40 streets in chennai from the list Covid-19 containment zones as the areas had not reported any new case of the novel coronavirus in the last 28 days. In its latest release, the corporation has said that the tamilnadu capital has a total of 2,644 Covid-19 cases, of which 2,255 are active cases. In terms of patient recovery, the Royapuram area of chennai had the highest number. At least 101 patients in the area have been discharged after recovering from coronavirus. This is followed by Thiru-Vi-Ka nagar which has registered 53 recoveries so far.

 

The zone-wise break up shows a new area Kodambakkam showing a spike in the number of confirmed cases. The zone now has 461 confirmed cases, much higher than the ones reported in Royapuram (422) and Thiru-Vi-Ka nagar 448. Another area that is fast seeing a spiking number is Valasaravakkam. It has 205 cases. 

 

Moreover the detailed graph released by the Greater chennai Corporation states that 62.78 per cent people affected are men while 37.18 per cent affected are female and 0.04 per cent are transgender. A hundred children between the age group of 0-9 years have been affected (48 female, 52 male). Twenty-three people have died because of the pandemic in Chennai.
