Sachin Tendulkar decided to feed 5000 people for a month
cricket icon sachin tendulkar, who has already donated Rs 50 lakh for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, has also decided to feed 5000 people for a month. Apnalaya, a non-profit organsation through a message thanked Tendulkar for doing his bit for the needy.
"Thankyou,@sachin_rt for stepping in & helping Apnalaya help the ones suffering the most during this lockdown. He will be taking care of the ration of around 5000 people for a month. "There are many more individuals who need your support, people! Donate below!," Apnalaya messaged from their official handle. Earlier, Tendulkar contributed Rs 25 lakh each to Prime Minister's Relief Fund and Chief Minister's Relief Fund in his bid to join the fight against COVID-19.
Several other cricketers, including virat kohli, suresh raina, rohit sharma, anil Kumble, have also made significant contributions. Moreover bcci President sourav ganguly has said he was ready to offer the Eden Gardens indoor facility and the players dormitory to the West bengal government in order to be used as quarantine facilities in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak that has infected more than 500 people in the country and has led to more than 10 deaths. Earlier, the cricket Association of pondicherry (CAP) had also offered the dormitory in its Tutipet campus as a quarantine facility for coronavirus patients in Puducherry. After the number of coronavirus cases went past 500 in india, prime minister narendra modi on tuesday announced a 21-day lockdown in the country in an attempt to prevent the spread of the virus and bring the situation under control.
