Reportedly the National Electronic Toll Collection (Fastag) program, a major initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), has been implemented at Pan India level to eliminate bottlenecks on toll plazas and ensure uninterrupted movement of traffic. Meanwhile the purpose of FASTag is to collect usage fees as per the notified rates using radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.
