An Indian-American Physicians group is shipping 5,000 oxygen concentrators to India.
"These units will be received by local indian partners, clinics, makeshift isolation centres, newly formed mobile hospitals, and charities so that local partners in remote parts of india can use these units to provide oxygen to Covid patients as requested," said FIPA president DR raj Bhayani. Around 3,500 units are still awaiting shipment, he added, adding that FIPA has reached out to the indian embassy, the Ministry of Aviation, and air india to assist in the immediate transportation of these units.
India's overall number of Covid-19 cases increased to 2,14,91,598, with 3,915 deaths reported in 24 hours on Friday. The death toll has now reached 2,34,083, according to Union health Ministry numbers.
