Abraham Varghese gets Americas highest Humanities Award

Washington sources have stated that an indian American physician and author has been presented with the National Humanities Medal, America's highest humanities award, by US President barack obama for his contribution in the field of medicine. Presently a professor of medicine at the Stanford school of Medicine, Abraham Varghese has authored several acclaimed books including 'My Own Country' and 'Cutting for Stone', where he was presented with the medal along with several other recipients at a ceremony held at the White House.

 

The Stanford university has said in a statement that Varghese is a critically acclaimed, best-selling author and a physician with an international reputation for his emphasis on empathy for patients in an era in which technology often overwhelms the human side of medicine. paris sources have stated that india is likely to become the centre of a cluster based approach for emerging markets that volkswagen is putting together as part of its post diesel gate restructuring.Presently the German automaker is considering setting up an engineering and development centre in india and makes it the lead country in defining future product portfolio for markets such as south America, the Middle east and Russia. Jurgen Stackmann, Volkswagen’s global head for sales and marketing has said volkswagen has plans to launch two sports utility vehicle  one each in the B and C segments under the Tiguan premium SUV  and a small car for the global markets. It is studying the scope for localizing the products for india at indian cost and how local R&D could help achieve this.
