The Indian American Researcher Ananda Mohan Chakrabarty has said anti-cancer medications can be given to the patients through genetically changed fruits and vegetables. The Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) is the future of anti-cancer therapy and can also be used as preventive medicines.
Many have opposed to the GMOs and the people should understand that genetically modified eatables contain anti-cancer causing agents. Many are opposing as the GMOs benefits only the makers. Presently the University of Calcutta is a renowned University and a professor in the department of Microbiology and Immunology is presently undergoing researches in bacterial proteins to treat and control cancer causing agents.
Chakrabarty is doing researches in collaboration with New Delhi, Japan, Mexico and Portugal and is scrutinizing genetically engineering plants which can produce the bacterial protein as one among its metabolism. He along with his teammates has identified the bacterial protein called Peptide 28, which will kill cancer.
In Mexico the Plant Biotechnologist has found that azurin in tomatoes and has found that plant compounds have anti-cancer activity that can kill tumor cells.
Presently young women in rural areas who cannot afford to spend for costlier treatment are aware that plants have enough proteins and cure many diseases, rather than taking out the breast and ovaries permanently from the body. Chakrabarty’s invention was given the first U.S Patent for the genetically modified organisms. His research has become the path for his genetically modified organisms and other forms of life.
