Recently, the tamil version of the film 'Raanjhanaa', 'Ambikapati', was re-released. However, in this re-release version, the makers changed the climax of the filmthrough AI. In the new version, the hero of the film 'Kundan' is shown alive in the end, whereas in the original film, he dies.
This entire controversy has given rise to a new debate in the industry. Can the ending of a film be changed through AI, that too without the consent of the artists and creators? On this issue, we have also spoken to some veterans and legal experts associated with the film industry.
'AI cannot replace the director. It can be helpful, but it should be used thoughtfully. Changes without consent are wrong. If someone changes the ending of my film with AI and does not ask me, then it would be completely wrong. Respect for creativity is important.'
'Legally, the most important thing is the contract. If it is written that only the producer has the right to make changes, then he can change the climax with AI, even if the director is unhappy. Therefore, as AI is increasing its power to change content, it has become necessary that in the contract between the writer, director, and producer, it should be decided in advance who will get how much creative control. Who will allow the changes? Otherwise, the new directors will be ignored, and the big production house will do whatever it wants.
