Sharing her memories related to Raksha Bandhan, Sanvika says, “We don’t have any brothers in our family, but celebrating Raksha Bandhan with sisters has always been special. We sisters used to tie Rakhi to each other. This made the festival even more special for me. In childhood, it was also decided that we would get new clothes only three times a year. On birthdays, Raksha Bandhan, and Diwali. Going to the market with mummy-papa before Raksha Bandhan, buying sweets, choosing clothes – everything used to bring a lot of happiness. I miss all this a lot now.” Sanvika further says, “My sisters are my biggest strength. They are like mothers to me. They have a special kind of fighting spirit. Both mentally and physically. people often used to say that if there are daughters and no brothers, then the house will be weak. But my sister has always stood up against the wrong and proved that we are not weak.

My sisters understand even what I do not say. They understand what I am thinking, what I am feeling. Sometimes we have arguments, but love and trust always remain. Every time it feels that there is someone who understands me completely, even without saying.”

Recalling her childhood days, Sanvika further says, “I used to make greeting cards by bringing leaves and flowers from the garden. Sometimes I used to make rakhis myself. All this was taught in the SUPW period of school. I used to give those rakhis to mummy, papa, and sisters. It felt very good to see the smile on everyone’s data-face.”

When I shifted to mumbai and couldn't go home on Raksha Bandhan, I cried bitterly as soon as the call got disconnected. I felt very lonely that day. Festivals like Raksha Bandhan and diwali seemed very empty then. Since childhood, we used to celebrate these festivals together, so when everything went away, the feeling of that distance felt very heavy.
