South superstar kamal haasan recently commented during a promotional event of his upcoming film 'Thug Life' that the kannada language "originated from Tamil".His comment caused a lot of uproar in Karnataka. The karnataka high court heard the case on tuesday and warned kamal haasan that he cannot use his right to the expression "to hurt sentiments".

1 - No right to hurt sentiments

"You have the right to speak... but not to hurt sentiments. The fundamental right to (free) speech and expression cannot be given to the extent that it hurts public sentiments," the karnataka high court told tamil Nadu actor-politician Kamal Haasan.

2- You are not an ordinary person

Let us tell you that while hearing a petition seeking direction to the authorities, including the karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, not to obstruct or stop the release of Kamal Haasan's new film 'Thug Life' in the state, the court told the 70-year-old superstar, "You are not an ordinary person."

3. Apologise if you have hurt anyone

Kamal Haasan had refused to apologize for his remark last week that the kannada language "originated" from tamil, to which the court told him, "We are leaving it to you now... apologize if you have hurt anyone."

4- If you don't need kannada people, then leave the revenue

The court also said, "In this case, you made a statement. Take back that statement... that's all. Crores can be earned from Karnataka... but if you don't need (Kannada) people, then leave the revenue."

5 - Playing with public sentiments is not allowed

The court said, "But we will not allow anyone to play with the sentiments of the public... The court said, "When mistakes have been made, you should say, 'I spoke in this context (but) if it has hurt anyone, I apologize.'"
