'Band Baja Baraat' gang exposed , used to steal after attending weddings!
The Crime Branch of delhi police has exposed the 'Band Baja Baraat' gang that used to steal in wedding ceremonies. police has arrested three members of this gang, while a minor has also been caught. police has recovered stolen money, mobile phones and silver jewelry from them. According to the police, this gang used to target big wedding venues of delhi and North India.
DCP Crime Branch apoorva Gupta said that this gang comes from Rajgarh district of madhya pradesh and becomes active in other big cities including Delhi-NCR during the wedding season. The gang leader used to take the children of poor families with him by luring them with 10 to 12 lakh rupees.
Children were given training to steal
He told that children were given training to steal and then they used to attend wedding ceremonies and behave like guests. The gang members used to come to the wedding wearing good clothes, eat food there and mingle with the guests completely. Then when they got a chance, they would steal the guests' bags, jewelry and cash and run away. In fact, in view of such thefts happening continuously in Delhi-NCR, the Crime Branch team started the investigation.
apoorva Gupta said that the team searched the CCTV footage of many wedding venues and activated informers. During the investigation, three accused and a minor were identified on the basis of suspicion. The police received information that the accused were standing at the bus stop near Shastri Park Metro Depot to go back to their village. Acting immediately on this information, the Crime Branch team raided there and arrested all the accused.
The accused are residents of Raigarh
The names of the accused are Ajju, Kuljeet and Kalu. All three are residents of Raigarh district of Madhya Pradesh. According to the police, not only men but also women were involved in this gang. These people lived in a rented house in delhi and used to drop children to the wedding venue and bring them back for theft. After committing the theft, these people used to run away immediately so that no one would suspect them.
