Irrfan-Alok: After the death of theater actor-director Alok Chatterjee, writer-lyricist Swanand Kirkire highlighted the friendship between him and Irrfan Khan. Kirkire addressed both the artists as Kalidas and Vilom.

On Tuesday, theater actor-director Alok Chatterjee died at the age of 63. Writer-lyricist Swanand Kirkire mourned his death. Swanand Kirkire shared a post writing about the friendship between Alok and bollywood actor Irrfan Khan.


Sharing a photo of Alok Chatterjee on his instagram account, Swanand mentioned the friendship between Alok and Irrfan. In this post, he called Irrfan as Kalidas and Alok Chatterjee as Vilom. Swanand wrote, 'Alok Chatterjee... a unique actor is gone. He was Irrfan's batchmate at NSD. If Irrfan was Kalidas, Chatterjee was Vilom. Vilom has gone to meet his Kalidas. Rest in peace Alok bhai!'

According to Chatterjee's close associate and actor Manoj Joshi, Chatterjee was admitted to the hospital on december 31. Joshi told PTI, 'He was suffering from kidney disease for seven months. His liver was also affected. When we admitted him to the hospital, his lungs also started getting affected. Last night his heart stopped working. He breathed his last at around 3 am.'


Alok Chatterjee was a part of very famous plays. He directed 'A Mid-Summer Night's Dream' (William Shakespeare). He also acted in 'Death of a Salesman (Arthur Miller) along with directing it. 'Nat Samrat' (Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar), 'Shakuntala Ki Ring' (Surendra Verma), 'Swami Vivekananda', and 'Ankahe Afsane' are some of his major plays.
