Beyoncé is bringing holiday cheer to Netflix this christmas with a highly anticipated live performance during the halftime show of the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans game. This special event is part of Netflix’s newly minted three-year partnership with the NFL, marking a major milestone for the streaming giant.

Netflix made the announcement, sharing that the Grammy-winning superstar will perform live on christmas Day, december 25, during the second of two NFL games being streamed on the platform. The action kicks off at 1 p.m. ET with the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers, followed by the Ravens-Texans matchup at 4:30 p.m. ET. Beyoncé will take center stage during the halftime break of the latter game.

The performance will be extra special as Beyoncé will perform songs from her acclaimed country album, Cowboy Carter, for the first time ever. The album, which has already made waves in the music industry, received an unprecedented 11 Grammy nominations this year, making it the most-nominated album of all time. One of the album's standout tracks, "American Requiem," was teased in a video trailer posted online ahead of the event.

While full details of the halftime show remain under wraps, Netflix hinted that Beyoncé’s performance will feature several special guest stars, many of whom appear on Cowboy Carter. Fans can expect appearances from music icons like Dolly Parton, as well as the country sensation Shaboozey, both of whom have been key collaborators on the album.

This performance will mark Beyoncé’s third appearance in a high-profile halftime show. The first came in 2013 when she headlined the Super Bowl halftime show, followed by a memorable performance at the 2016 Super Bowl 50 halftime. This time, however, she will be part of a new streaming era, with Netflix using the event to showcase its growing live sports streaming capabilities.

The performance also gives Netflix a chance to bounce back from recent technical difficulties with its live-streaming infrastructure. During the livestream of the Jake Paul vs. mike tyson boxing match this past weekend, the platform data-faced significant outages, with more than a million reports submitted globally about the technical glitches. The issues, which led to the hashtag #NetflixCrash trending on X (formerly Twitter), prompted concerns over Netflix’s readiness for large-scale live broadcasts. The company has also data-faced criticism for streaming issues during last year’s Love is Blind Season 4 reunion.

Despite these setbacks, the inclusion of Beyoncé is expected to help Netflix redeem itself with a flawless live event that could help solidify its place in the competitive world of live sports streaming.

With her star power, Cowboy Carter album’s success, and Netflix’s new foray into NFL game streaming, this christmas Day event promises to be a historic and memorable moment for both music fans and sports lovers alike.
