mahima Chaudhary made her bollywood debut with the 1997 film 'Pardes'. The film was a super-duper hit and mahima Chaudhary also became a star overnight. However, in 1999, 'Dil Kya Kare' was being shot and during that time mahima became a victim of an accident which changed her entire life. Due to this accident, mahima had scars on her data-face. In a recent interview, mahima revealed that that accident changed the direction of her career and she had tried everything possible to hide this incident from the eyes of the people. In fact, she was afraid that this could end her acting career.
The accident that changed everything
During an interview with Radio Nasha, mahima recalled the painful day of 1999 when a vehicle hit her car. She suffered severe facial injuries in this accident. mahima said, "67 pieces of glass were removed from my data-face." She revealed that when the incident happened, she did not realise that she had multiple injuries on her data-face. It was only when she went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror that she realised that her data-face was injured. Despite being badly injured, mahima initially wanted to continue shooting.
“At first, I told Prakash ji [Prakash Jha] that if nothing has happened, let's shoot but when I looked in the mirror, I realised that my data-face was injured,” mahima said.

mahima further revealed that her co-actor and producer ajay Devgn, along with director prakash jha, were very supportive. mahima said that I had requested them to keep the accident a secret as I was afraid that the news of my injuries would ruin my career. The actress added, “I had requested ajay and Prakash ji not to tell anyone about my accident. I wanted to see if I could save my career. They respected my wishes and no one from the production told me anything. Mahima's accident was kept under wraps but she struggled to deal with the emotional and physical wounds. Despite multiple surgeries, she doubted if she would ever be able to return to acting. "Ajay used to say everything would be fine after the surgery, but I didn't believe it," she said. mahima admitted that during this time, she considered other career options as she wasn't sure if she would ever recover fully. "Even today, one of my eyes is smaller than the other," the actress said, confessing that she was hesitant to data-face the camera directly because of the trauma.
