At one time his pairing with salim khan was very popular in hindi cinema. The duo got recognition in bollywood as Salim-Javed. javed akhtar needs no introduction. He has achieved a lot in his career. Javed had narrated the story of his struggle in the recently released documentary series 'Angry Young Man' of himself and Salim Khan.
He had left home at a young age
javed akhtar himself shared his story while getting emotional. He left his home at a young age and came to Mumbai. He said, 'After graduation, I decided that I would go to bombay and work as an assistant director there. I was sure that after starting like this, I would become a director after a few years. I never looked back and did not take any help from the family. My aunt brought me up, I left everything at the age of 15, but my intentions behind doing this were good.'

Javed further said, 'After coming to mumbai, I stayed with my friends for a few days, slept at the railway station, park, studio compound, corridor, bench. Many times I went to Dadar, Bandra on foot because I did not even have money for the bus fare. Many times I did not get food for two days. Then I used to think that if a biography is written on me in the future, then all these things will matter a lot.'
There is no difference between a human and a dog
During another interview, javed akhtar was asked about staying hungry, then he said, 'It is sad to stay hungry for two-three days. On the third day, there is no difference between a human and a dog.'
