Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan Collects ₹80 Lakh from US Advance Ticket Sales
Following the massive success of Jailer, Rajinikanth is set to captivate audiences once again with his upcoming film Vettaiyan, which is scheduled for release on october 10. Although advance bookings in india have yet to begin, the film is already generating excitement in the US, where it has reportedly sold nearly 4,000 tickets, raking in approximately $97,000 (around ₹80 lakh).
Fans are eagerly anticipating Vettaiyan, especially after a teaser showcasing Rajinikanth performing challenging stunts and featuring amitabh bachchan in a significant role. The film has already surpassed the 10 million views mark shortly after its preview was released. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan tells the story of a retired cop portrayed by Rajinikanth, who takes on the system.
This film marks the first collaboration between Rajinikanth and amitabh bachchan in 32 years, their last being in Mukul S Anand’s Hum. The cast also includes notable tamil actors like Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, and ritika singh in key roles.
The music for Vettaiyan is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who appears in the viral song "Manasilaayo" alongside Rajinikanth and Manju Warrier. Anirudh's music has gained popularity beyond regional audiences, especially following the success of Jawan starring Shah Rukh Khan.
Vettaiyan is poised to continue Rajinikanth's success streak, as his previous film Jailer grossed an impressive ₹600 crore at the global box office. Produced by Lyca Productions, the film has been shot across various locations in india, including Thiruvananthapuram, Tirunelveli, Chennai, Mumbai, and Hyderabad.
With 14 days left until its release, Vettaiyan is on track to potentially surpass the advance booking record set by Jailer, which was ₹7 lakh. It will data-face competition at the box office from alia Bhatt’s Jigra and rajkummar rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky vidya Ka Woh Wala Video.
