Ananya Panday's "Call Me Bae" Renewed for Season 2: "Here We Come!"
Ananya Panday's OTT debut in Prime Video’s "Call Me Bae" has been met with great enthusiasm, leading to the series' renewal for a second season. In the show, ananya portrays Bella, a young woman who loses her wealth and must rebuild her life, alongside co-stars Gurfateh Pirzada, varun Sood, niharika Lyra Dutt, Vihaan Samat, Muskan Jaaferi, Lisa Mishra, and Vir Das.
Ananya shared the renewal announcement on Instagram, writing, “Our day couldn’t get any bae-tter! Bella is coming to swoon us over again with a new season #CallMeBaeOnPrime, S2 in development.” The series has drawn attention for its bollywood references, particularly as karan johar likened Ananya's character to a Gen Z version of Poo from "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham."
However, ananya emphadata-sized that her portrayal is not an attempt to replicate Kareena Kapoor's iconic role. “We’re not trying to touch or come close to what Bebo did because she is a literal icon. This is our homage to her,” she remarked.
Karan Johar described Bella as a "glorious Gen Z 2.0 derivative" of Poo, stating, “If Rohan and pooja had a baby girl, she would be Bae.” He noted how the character mirrors Poo's playful nature while also contributing emotional depth.
"Call Me Bae" follows Bella as she navigates her new life as a journalist in mumbai after relocating from South Delhi. The series, produced by karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment, combines a fresh narrative with nods to cinematic legacies.
