Shah Rukh gets Bashed - "Is He a Rapist or ?"
Although Shah Rukh Khan has long been praised for his heroic, iconic performances, discussions have been triggered by his depiction of bad characters, particularly in relation to the 1993 movie Darr. In the film, Khan portrays a dangerously infatuated man who follows Juhi Chawla's character kiran and uses the famous statement, "Whether you say yes or no, you are mine, Kiran."

In a recent interview, educator Dr. Vikas Divyakirti rekindled this issue by criticizing Shah Rukh Khan's role in Darr for undervaluing consent.

The theme of the movie, according to Dr. Divyakirti, is that crass masculinity is glorified in the role of Shah Rukh's character, who feels that the lady is his property regardless of whether she gives him consent. But Divyakirti has to understand that every time SRK portrayed a villain, he made sure the character ended tragically. He never exalted them and always saw to it that their wrongdoings were atoned for.

The character of Dr. Vikas Divyakirti in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 12th Fail is a UPSC professor. The movie, which is based on Manoj Sharma's real life narrative, follows him from his failure in the twelfth grade to his appointment as an IPS officer.
