The telugu film industry is facing a new scandal as renowned choreographer Jani master, formally known as Shaik Jani Basha, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old colleague. The accuser, who is also a choreographer, has filed an FIR against Jani master in Raidurgam police station, Hyderabad.
According to reports from The Hindu, the woman alleges that the assaults occurred during outdoor shoots over the past few months while she was working with Jani Master. The charges against him include section 376 (rape), criminal intimidation (section 506), and voluntarily causing hurt (section 323) of the indian Penal Code (IPC).
The complaint details that the incidents reportedly took place in 2019. The woman claimed she was unable to come forward earlier due to threats from Jani master and his aides, who allegedly threatened to sabotage her career in the industry.
Shikha Goel, director General of the women Safety Wing (WSW) Telangana, has been consulted by the film industry about the matter. She advised that an internal inquiry be conducted under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Act, and also recommended that a formal criminal case be registered with the law enforcement authorities. Goel confirmed that the case will be investigated following the standard protocol.
This incident is not Jani Master’s first legal issue. Earlier this year, he data-faced accusations of harassment from a dancer named Satish.
Jani master, known for his work with prominent actors like Allu Arjun, salman khan, and Jr NTR, and for choreographing popular songs such as "Aayi Nai" from stree 2 and "Arabic Kuthu" from Beast, has yet to comment on these recent allegations.
