Kalki: Even Worse Than Adipurush For Prabhas?

S Venkateshwari
The much awaited religious epic Adipurush from last year totally fell short of expectations and became one of the most trolling movies in recent memory. prabhas received harsh criticism for his portrayal of Lord Rama and experienced a great deal of reaction, particularly from the Hindi-speaking public. But much of the criticism was aimed at director Om Raut, who squandered the film's talent and finances with a poor vision and poor execution. prabhas wasn't spared, although his popularity from Baahubali helped to lessen the damage.

Currently available for streaming on OTT platforms is his most recent movie, kalki 2898 AD, which the producers say has already generated over 1000 crores in revenue. Regretfully, the response has been overwhelmingly unfavorable. What looked good in theaters is uninteresting and flat when viewed on OTT at home. Reviews on social media indicate that many spectators found the first half boring and uninspired, so they either fast-forwarded through it or skipped the whole thing.

Prabhas is taking a greater toll on the trolls this time. His popularity from Baahubali is rapidly diminishing, as indian viewers have criticized his performance in kalki 2898 AD as sluggish and uninspired. His acting is erratic from the opening action sequence to the last battle scene. It's unfortunate to see an actor who once had such a strong on-screen presence and a captivating personality suddenly viewed as unwatchable by many. people who saw the movie on OTT were receptive to Arshad Warsi's recent remarks on Prabhas' part, and many of them agreed with his assessment.

In Tollywood, prabhas has devoted followers who will devour everything he does. However, the hindi audience isn't as lucrative. They are quite critical and judgmental, and prabhas needs to change a lot. In his films, he stands out like a sore thumb, and this trend continues happening. Unfortunately for prabhas, kalki 2898 AD is turning out to be worse than Adipurush. He ought to view this as a wake-up call and consider the comments carefully and constructively. prabhas has grown too reliant on directors, VFX teams, and technical departments to provide a strong performance for him.

Director Nag Ashwin has some of the blame for Prabhas's poor presentation, both in terms of his look and character development. In context, when was the last time we saw the main character in an epic movie that cost a billion dollars being trolled? Hopefully, the filmmaker will see his mistakes and how the timing of the movie's release helped it become a commercial hit. In a perfect world, kalki 2898 AD would have been as successful and kind to the filmmaker as Rajamouli's Baahubali; but, the main actress has become a target for trolls.
