I did not impose my politics in 'Vaazhai" says Mari Selvaraj

After 'Pariyerum Perumal', 'Karnan' and 'Maamannan', Mari Selvaraj is directing 'Vaazhai'. The film is based on his childhood experiences. For this, he has started the production house 'Navvi Studios' and produced the film. Mari Selvaraj's wife Divya is managing the production house. Composed by Santhosh Narayanan, the film is slated to release on august 23.

Speaking to the media, director Mari Selvaraj said, "I am in the same tense mood as I was during the release of 'Pariyerum Perimaal'. We expect people to make films and give them a welcome. But we expect people to accept it whole heartedly, not just for a few films. I expect people to accept 'Vaazhai’ whole heartedly and welcome it.
This is a film that you have to understand me through this film. I have made this film based on just one year of my childhood. The final scene of this film is the most important scene of my life. While filming it, my mental state went through a lot of pain. I am not imposing my knowledge and politics on this film.  I have turned a part of my painful childhood life into an art form.

Everyone has many questions like 'What's wrong with him', 'Why is he talking about pain'. I have made this film in response to such questions about myself.  As a child, I grew up listening to stories of minor deities and folk deities. So, small deities who were tortured and murdered by society like 'wild pechi' will naturally find a place in my films.
