Juhi Chawla: Before jai Mehta's marriage, his mother took this big step, Juhi Chawla said - I was losing everything...

Juhi Chawla may not be seen on screen these days, but in the 90s, her name was among the top beauties of Bollywood. Juhi lived both her professional and personal life on her terms. The actress married jai Mehta at a time when her career was at the peak of success. However, both of them secretly took seven rounds to keep the marriage away from the eyes of the world. Why the actress took this step was also revealed by herself.

Explaining why she married jai secretly, Juhi said that she did so because she was afraid of losing her career. Juhi and jai got married in 1995. They are the parents of Janhvi and Arjun. In an interview a few years ago, Juhi had said, 'I was almost established and was starting to do well. This was the time when I started getting attracted to Jay. However, I was also very scared of my career ending.'

Juhi added, 'I wanted to move on and this seemed like the middle path that let's keep it quiet and no matter what, you keep working.' Juhi said that she was going through a tough time at that time, as her mother had recently passed away and she felt like she was losing everything. She said, 'My mother also passed away that year, so another tragedy happened to me and that was a very tough time for me as well because I felt I was losing everything I had, everything I loved, my work and my mother.'

At a recent event organized by the gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Juhi revealed how her mother-in-law canceled her grand wedding plans because Juhi was getting too upset. Juhi said that her mother-in-law remembers about 2000 invitations that were given to guests from all over the world.

Juhi Chawla further added, 'She convinced the family not to have a big wedding and I got married at home in the presence of family and close friends, with only 80-90 people present. Imagine your mother-in-law canceling invitations that had already been sent.
