A video shared by news agency ANI on X (formerly Twitter) captured the moment when Sonu sat near Asha's feet, equipped with a small stool, water, a thali, and a towel. Initially, Sonu kissed Asha's feet, making her laugh and cover her data-face. He then washed and dried her feet, before folding his hands and bowing to her as he left the stage.

About the event

For the event, Asha wore a printed white saree with a matching blouse, while Sonu was dressed in a yellow kurta and white pajama. During the event, Asha reminisced about her association with Hindutva ideologue VD Savarkar, and her brother, music director Hridaynath Mangeshkar, was also present at the ceremony.


According to ANI, Sonu delivered a heartfelt speech lauding Asha and her late sister, Lata Mangeshkar, for their immense contributions to indian music. Mohan Bhagwat also spoke, highlighting the Mangeshkar family's dedication to music and patriotism, and emphasizing the societal benefits of music beyond entertainment.
