How's Tollywood Summer Going to be?
Hope never dies, especially now that summer is almost here. Soon, four major films—"Om bheem Bush" on march 22, "Tillu Square" on march 29, "Family Star" on april 5, and "Geethanjali Malli Vachindhi" on april 11—will open in theaters. It's interesting to note that all four appear to fit into the humorous entertainer category, which usually does well around the holidays. All of these movies, when they are landed well, have the potential to succeed, whether it is the horror comedy of Geethanjali, the family components in Family Star, the youthful urban slang humor in Tillu Square, or the dark comedy of Om bheem Bush.
Based on the sankranti releases, which saw the family-friendly picture "Hanuman" triumph against thrillers and horror movies, tollywood appears to be placing more of its bets on "wholesome entertainment" this summer. But the substance itself holds the key. It will take time to determine whether movie truly appeals to the masses, but one thing is certain: with the holidays approaching, people are eager for a fun-filled summer.
