Vetrimaaran is unquestionably one of the most outstanding filmmakers working today. Viduthalai Part 1 was the filmmaker's most recent film, released in the first half of 2023 and starring soori and Vijay Sethupathi. The film was widely acclaimed and concluded with the promise of a sequel. Viduthalai Part 2 has been one of cinephiles' most awaited films since its announcement, and it is set to be released this year. It is expected that Vijay Sethupathi's persona would be developed more in the sequel.

According to the most recent update, Viduthalai Part 2 premiered at the international Film festival of Rotterdam to considerable praise. According to reports, the picture earned a five-minute standing ovation. Vetrimaaran, Vijay Sethupathi, and soori were also present for the event.
Furthermore, it is understood that Viduthalai Parts 1 and 2 were screened concurrently at the Film Festival. It is also worth noting that the filming of Viduthalai Part 2 has not yet been completed, with some minor adjustments needed before it is ready for a commercial release. However, Vetrimaaran created a festival cut just for its premiere.
Viduthalai Part 2 is scheduled to continue from where its predecessor left off. The film will dive more into Vijay Sethupathi's character, Perumal Vaathiyaar, and how he became a notable rebel commander. Furthermore, it is thought that a substantial portion of the film would be set in the 1960s, particularly sequences between the super deluxe actor and Manju Warrier, who plays his wife in the film.
