Shabana Azmi says Tabu teases her for kissing Dharmendra
One of the most talked-about scenes from any 2023 film was certainly shabana azmi and Dharmendra's kiss in 'Rocky Aur rani Kii prem Kahaani'. The two portrayed long-lost lovers who are reunited by chance. Showing two elders kissing was a watershed event in indian film. In a recent interview, shabana azmi said that her niece, star tabu, has been mocking her about the kiss and that senior actors have stated that they will only sign a film if it has a kiss sequence.
In an interview with Zoom, shabana azmi recalled how tabu teased her about kissing dharmendra in karan Johar's 'Rocky Aur rani Kii prem Kahaani'. She revealed, “Tabu, jo meri niece hai, itni shaitan hai. Woh kehti hai aapne hila ke rakh diya industry. Ab sab aapki age ki ladkiyaan keh rahi hai ke kiss hogi toh hum karenge (Tabu is so naughty, she teases me that I created a huge stir within the industry. She says now all the actresses of my age are saying they would do a film if there's a kissing scene in it).”
Shabana Azmi previously discussed the kiss in an interview with Zoom, saying, "I never expected it to cause such a stir! people are laughing and shouting as we do the kiss. It was never an issue when we were shooting. I haven't kissed much on tv before. Who wouldn't want to kiss a man as attractive as Dharmendra?"
