Naga Vamsi Rakes Up ‘Authenticity’ Debate

S Venkateshwari
Ace producer naga vamsi recently reacted to critics that foretold doom for "Guntur Kaaram". While the production studio officially claimed that the film had gathered ₹215 crores revenue so far, several box office trackers disagreed, claiming that the figures are false. And it is where vamsi strikes most right now.
In response, naga vamsi spoke with many box office trackers, querying who, other than the producers, would have reliable information about a film's collections. Some trackers claimed on having legitimate data sources, causing vamsi to demand their disclosure. The Distributors and Exhibitors Union is apparently planning legal action against certain box office trackers to force them to identify the origins of their quoted figures.
In the lack of recognised collection monitoring businesses such as Rentrak and Comscore for single-screen theatres in India, particularly in telugu regions, vamsi has sparked debate about the 'authenticity' of the stated data. These disputes between vamsi and the trackers should not be taken lightly, since they might set the way for future activities. According to sources, the Producers Council and other stakeholders are planning a meeting to develop an action plan for disclosing a film's genuine collections.
