In a recent roundtable discussion, actress Sriya reddy, who just starred in Prabhas' Salaar, stated that she could not comprehend Ponniyin Selvan. Sriya said that she found the film perplexing. Shobu yarlagadda, the producer of Baahubali, stated that if he had produced Salaar, he would have prepared the viewers ahead of time by establishing the film's universe.
Shobu yarlagadda believes that it is critical for filmmakers to inform people about what to expect from a film so that they may enjoy the proceedings. This is when Sriya stated that she didn't comprehend Ponniyin Selvan. Shobu stated, "If you offer the world first and indicate that these are the people and what you will see in the film, the viewer will identify with the characters. There's nothing wrong with it.

Shobu stated that it is not required to tell the entire plot, but introducing people is sufficient.
